About Major
Overview
The concept of offering a Master’s program in Political Science – “Palestinian Studies” stems from its critical importance. There is a pressing need for a specialized program addressing Palestinian affairs, given the absence of such a program in the Palestinian academic landscape. This program aims to meet the intellectual and research needs related to Palestinian issues, as the Palestinian cause cannot be properly documented or understood without systematic academic and research efforts that record its historical developments from inception to the present. Moreover, in light of the major transformations the Palestinian cause has undergone in recent years, there is a necessity to establish programs closely linked to it, ensuring that the cause is studied, understood, and approached within a structured framework capable of defending and advocating for it.
Program Objectives and Learning Outcomes
- Promoting Palestinian national culture by building a solid Palestinian-based knowledge framework regarding Palestine, its history, political system, occupation, thought, culture, and society.
- Graduating an elite cadre capable of engaging in well-founded and coherent debates on the Palestinian cause across multiple levels, in addition to producing researchers and scholars who may interact with Weste
and global communities through their work. - Developing a Palestinian elite able to engage rigorously, seriously, and academically with the political, intellectual, religious, historical, and narrative systems of Israel that target the Palestinian cause.
- Strengthening Palestinian presence in the collective Arab memory, which Israel seeks to undermine through cultural normalization, addressing this gap through robust and credible Palestinian academic engagement.
- Providing students with practical applications of the theories they study, including field visits, guest lectures, and simulation models to observe and understand real-world practices.
- Enabling graduates to integrate information technology into political studies, and to conduct advanced, in-depth scientific research.
- Enhancing graduates’ analytical, comparative, and inferential skills, equipping them with a comprehensive understanding of political realities and the ability to make sound decisions within the institutions in which they serve.
- Preparing researchers and graduates capable of understanding the Palestinian cause and its developments, recognizing political trends at the inte
ational level, and addressing gaps in knowledge in accordance with educational regulations and academic accreditation standards.
