Within the framework of the accreditation of institutions of higher education in Palestine, a delegation from the National Commission for Accreditation, Quality of Higher Education Institutions which belong to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education visited Al-Istiqlal University on Tuesday.
The delegation was headed by the Chairman of the Commission. Dr. Mohammed Al-Subu’, accompanied by the international expert Dr. Ronald Becker, the advisor of the Minister of Higher Education and Quality Dr. Sami Basha, and Mr. Iyad Abu Samra. They discussed the issue of quality assurance with the presidency and management of the university, and following up the workshop held in the city of Ramallah at the end of the last month.
In turn, the President of the University, Dr. Abdel Nasser Qadoumi, welcomed the guests. He presented them a brief about Al-Istiqlal University and the development of its administrative and academic work in recent years, stressing the quality of academic staff, administrative, teaching programs, and the process of integration between them and up to the required quality.
For his part, Dr. Mohammad AlSubu’ said that the goal of the National Commission for Accreditation and Quality and the Ministry of Education is to enrich the institutions of higher education with the subject of quality, including the governance and administrative empowerment of their departments, which will positively affect the outputs of higher education in Palestine.
In the context, the international expert Dr. Ronald Bakir delivered a lecture on the quality of institutions of higher education, attended by a number of academics at Al-Istiqlal University, deans of the faculties and heads of the departments. He pointed out the required scientific standards for quality referring to the experiences of international educational institutions.
The Accreditation and Quality Commission carries a series of activities in the field of quality of higher education in Palestine, reaching the internationalization of education and improving the capacities and the outputs of Palestinian education regionally and internationally.
