Internet Safety and Security Marathon is launched at Al-Istiqlal University

Internet Safety and Security Marathon initiative was held at Al-Istiqlal University in the city of Jericho entitled "Be Safe on the Internet", with the participation of a large crowd, more than 1500 participants, from different age groups and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osbaa, the President of Al-Istiqlal University, and the event organizers from the different institutions.

Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osbaa welcomed the participants and the organizers of the event who are represented by several partners, as follow: An-Najah National University, the Palestinian Telcommunications Group (PALTEL), the Palestinian Police, Ministry of Social Development and Vision International institution.

In the context, Mr. Shaaban Ayat, the Director of the Center for Community Services and Continuing Education at Istiqlal University, stressed the importance of the marathon and its implementation by the partners, especially as part of the awareness activities carried out by the Center throughout the school year, thanking all who contributed to the success of this event.

Furthermore, the marathon came to reach a large segment and to raise awareness in dealing with the Internet and the prevention of cybercrime in conjunction with the “World Safe Internet Day”.

Finally, the marathon consisted of two stages, the first stage for families and the second for young people. The distances were 2 and 5 km respectively and the winners were honored with medals, in the presence of a large number of partners.
