A free medical day was held at the Al-Istiqlal University under the supervision of the Center for Community Service and Continuing Education, in partnership with the International Medical Students Association (IFMSA) at Al Quds University in Abu Dis, the Palestinian Red Crescent and the Popular Committee of Ain Al-Sultan Camp. on Sunday 17th of March 2019.
Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osbaa inaugurated “The Independence Medical Day” accompanied by Dr. Rajaa Sweidan, his deputy for administrative and financial affairs, Prof. Dr. Muaweya Ibrahim, his deputy for Academic Affairs, Col. Salman Tayseer Abdallah, his Deputy for Military Affairs, the Director of the Center for Community Service and Continuing Education, a number of deans of the colleges and the directors of the departments at the University, as well as representatives of the Faculty of Medicine at Al Quds University - Abu Dis.
Prof. Dr. Abu Osbaa stressed the importance of this medical day in providing free medical services and examinations for the students and employees at the University and the community in Jericho, thanking all the partners who organized this event.
In the context, Mr. Shaaban Ayyat, the Director of the Center for Community Service and Continuing Education, said that the medical day aims to provide free services, medical examinations and medicines to the students, employees and residents of Ain Al-Sultan camp in the context of alleviating the economic burdens of the citizens due to the difficult circumstances of the Palestinian people.
Moreover, Mr. Mohamed Sanjak, the student at the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Quds University in Abu Dis, explained the services provided by the medical day which included the most important comprehensive tests such as blood donation and the examination of the following diseases: Pressure, diabetes, teeth, physiotherapy, hearing and pronunciation, nose and throat, tissue and skin, bones, croup and blood group, as well as an awareness sessions of prostate cancer and breast cancer.
The representatives of the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Quds University gave the President of Al- Istiqlal University and the Director of the Center for Community Service and Continuing Education “Honoring Shields” for their efforts in hosting the medical day and providing all the reasons for success.
On the occasion of the Independence Medical Day, a large number of residents of Ain Al-Sultan camp and the local community with the students and the staff had the medical services inside the Lobby building at Al-Istiqlal University.
