Al-Istiqlal Center for Strategic Studies last week held an extensive meeting with the staff of the Center for Studies and Policies for Conflict Resolution of the Arab American University in Jenin which is represented by Dr. Ayman Yousef, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center and Ms. Rula Shahwan, the Director of the Center, in the presence of Dr. Rajaa Sweidan, the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs in the campus of Al-Istiqlal University.
Dr. Sweidan welcomed the guest delegation and stressed the importance of the joint cooperation between Al –Istiqlal University and the Arab American University, hoping to have a strategic partnership between both centers in order to achieve the objectives of the two Universities.
Furthermore, Dr. Mohammed Ishtaya, the Director of Al-Istiqlal Center for Strategic Studies, announced that the Board of Directors of the Center for Studies and Policies for Conflict Resolution gave an annual grant for the students at Al-Istiqlal University to obtain a Master's Degree in the specialization of Conflict Resolution Management, from the Arab American University.
Moreover, Dr. Ishtaya discussed with both Dr. Yousef and Ms. Shahwan, the mechanism of the joint cooperation in the field of strategic studies, holding conferences, seminars and future workshops, in addition to the completion of the funded projects in the fields of democracy, human rights and security, the development of the scientific courses in the field of “Human Security” " and the implementation of the mutual visits of the foreign delegations and students of both universities.
Finally, Al-Istiqlal Center for Strategic Studies is about to sign a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Center for Studies and Policies for Conflict Resolution soon to culminate the results of the meeting.
