For the second year in a row and by an initiative of the Military Department, the University of Al-Istiqlal awarded medals to outstanding students of all years and majors for their excellence in the tests of fitness, discipline and academic commitment, in the presence of HE Maj. Gen. Tawfiq Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osbaa, the President of the University and his deputies for Military, Academic and Administrative Affairs, on Saturday 6th of April 2019.
HE Maj. Gen. Tirawi conveyed his greetings to the President of the University, the deans of the faculties and all the officials of the University, saying that these medals are delivered to students who were more superior and diligent and each of them exceeds by his/her patience, challenge, perseverance and not leaving.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees said that the University is proud of all the students who have been awarded and who have not as well, because each of you is suffering pain and effort to become a Palestinian military officer, addressing the students by saying: "After your graduation as Palestinian military officers, you have to help and protect your people who are under the oppression, which is practiced by the occupation, and wants you to be slaves, but I’m telling you to be masters of this land as disciplined officers and militants".
Furthermore, Prof Dr. Abu Osbaa, the President of the University, expressed his appreciation for the outstanding students who deserved this ceremony which is considered as a moral appreciation to the dedicated student, mentioning that the graduation is the starting point for the life of giving.
For his part, Col. Salman Taysir Abdullah, the Vice President for Military Affairs, explained the importance of these awards which will enhance the competition between the students and achieve the desired academic and military excellence, praising the role of the military officers and those who exert great effort during the academic year with students from all specializations.
Finally, the President of the Board of Trustees, the President and Vice-Presidents of the University honored about (50) students from all disciplines and sections regarding their military discipline, academic excellence, fitness and the external participations on behalf of the University.
