The President of the University visits and congratulates the Ministers of Higher Education, Culture and Local Governance

Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osbaa, the President of Al-Istiqlal University, congratulated Dr. Mahmmoud Abo Moes, the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Atef Abo Saif, the Minister of Culture, and Eng. Majdy Saleh, the Minister of Local Governance, accompanied by his deputy for Military, Administrative and Financial Affairs, the deans of colleges and the Media and Public Relations Department, in Ramallah, on Sunday 21th of April 2019.

Prof. Dr. Abu Osbaa wished the Ministers success in serving the Palestinian people and discussed with the Minister of Higher Education the ways of developing the education sector and supporting the work of the universities, especially after the separation of the Ministry of Higher Education from the Ministry of Education. Also, he praised the role of the Minister of Culture, calling him to make additional efforts to promote the national culture and literature as a novelist and writer, besides mentioning the role of the Ministry of Local Governance in preserving the Palestinian areas by their names, and supporting the different Palestinian areas.

For his part, Dr. Abo Moes thanked Al-Istiqlal University for the visit, hoping that it will play an important role in the new structure of the ministry, in addition to enriching the scientific research and libraries, explaining the experience of the Ministrey of Higher Education in Palestine and the necessity of its self-evaluation, praising the experience of Al-Istiqlal University and asking the Palestinian universities to be on the same approach.

Furthermore, Dr. Abo Saif  praised the efforts of HE Maj. Gen. Dr. Tawfik Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University, in establishing the University which is considered as a national and scientific monument, saying: "Al-Istiqlal University is the University of the homeland," and its role is important in graduating leaders and officers for the homeland, mentioning the importance of Al-Iistiqlal University participation in the future plan of the Ministry of Culture through its national activities, conferences and the Arab and international partnerships in cultural activities.

Moreover, Eng. Saleh welcomed the role of the University in offering the quality study programs, especially in the field of diploma and its suitability to the needs of the security institution and the local community, reseaching the topic of the vocational training which opens the gates for the Palestinian youth in developing themselves, especially that the precentage of unemployment is increasing everyday, stressing the real partnership with the University and the possibility of benefiting from the maps and the geological divisions which exist in the Ministry.

During the three visits, the University explored the ways of the joint cooperation between the University and each Ministry to serve the educational process and the Palestinian community, in addition to concluding bilateral agreements in the near future to implement what is being discussed on the ground. The university president invited the three ministers to attend the 7th graduation ceremony of the undergraduate students next month.

Finally, the Presidency of the University organizes a series of periodic visits to the members of the new Palestinian government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Ashtiyeh, in order to strengthen the working relationship to meet the needs of the University and serve the Palestinian community.
