Under the patronage of HE President Mahmoud Abbas, the Supreme Commander of the Palestinian Security Forces, and in the presence of the Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Ishtaya, HE Maj. Gen. Dr. Tawfiq Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University, Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osbaa, the President of the University, official attendees from Fateh Movement Central Committee and the executive committee of the PLO, Ministers and Governors, National and International characters and the families of the students, the University organized the graduation ceremony of "Al-Samoud Regiment", the Seventh Class of Bachelor Students and the First Class of the Intermediate Diploma, in the field of martyr "Abu Ali Iyad", on Thursday 6th of May 2019.
Dr. Mohammed Ishtaya greeted on the behalf of Mohamoud Abbas, the President of Palestine, the official attendees, the graduating students and the families of the students, saying “I have the honor to be among you today, with my brother and colleague, Dr. Tawfiq Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University, the members of the Board of Trustees and the members of the Central and Executive Committees”, praising the role of Al-Istiqlal University in serving the people and our homeland Palestine.
Furthermore, Dr. Ishtaya said “We dreamed and did not expect that Al-Istiqlal University with its students will be that much great. The Palestinian leadership is committed to supporting this University under the directives of the President Abu Mazen", referring to the Palestinian political and financial crisis, saying that "We are committed to preserving and sacrificing for the freedom and dignity of our people”.
HE Maj. Gen. Tirawi welcomed Dr. Ishtaya, the Prime Minster of Palestine, and all the official and popular attendance, beginning his speech by sending several political and national messages: the first is to the graduating students blessing them and stressing the need to protect the people of Palestine and the land and the second is for the leadership of the security institution to keep the students of the University who will join their ranks and that they have responsibilities to protect the Palestinian people, land and leadership.
Moreover, HE Maj. Gen Tirawi addressed his message to the leaders of Fateh Movement and its members to preserve its mission which aims to establish the deep state, directing his words to the people, who seek the weakness of Fateh, that Fateh Movement will remain strong and the icon of Palestinian history headed by the President Mahmoud Abbas. Also, he delivered a message to the Palestinian brave prisoners in the Israeli jails that freedom is very close and leadership is on the covenant and fulfillment, concluding his speech by conveying messages to the leadership of the Israeli occupation state that "The Palestinians have always been keen to respect the resolutions of the United Nations and the two-state solution, and you rejected that. We tell you that Akka and Haifa will remain Palestinian", in addition to addressing Hamas leadership in the Gaza Strip "You kidnapped Gaza Strip, get back to your religion and your homeland in light of what is being exposed to the Palestinian leadership, which will frustrate the Deal of the Century and the fifth columnists by the determination of the Palestinian people".
Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osbaa, the President of the University, greeted President Mahmoud Abbas, the patron of the ceremony and his representative, Mohammed Ishtaya, the Prime Minister and the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees of the University and the parents of the students, praising the military parades which were resulted by the hard efforts and diligence throughout the study period, thanking the permanent partners of the National Security Forces, the Committee of Management and Administration, the Military Training Committee and the Directorate of Military Medical Services. At the end of his speech, he mentioned to the graduating students the importance of being prepared by science, knowledge and keeping a constant communication with their University.
The student Balqes Nafez Al-Refai, who received 91.2% in the major of English -Hebrew languages gave a speech on the behalf of the graduated students, greeting the President Abbas and the attendees, stressing the keenness of the University graduates to promote the work of the Palestinian security institution for serving the Palestine and staying on the covenant with the Palestinian brave prisoners inside the Israeli Jails, the martyrs and their families for saving our country.
The students presented high-level military performances, which impressed the audience and their families, starting with the slow and normal march, the silent march, the military show entitled “14 steps” and then the implementation of security and personal protection, intrusion and downfall show, after that the students handed over the Flag of Al-Istiqlal University to the students of the "third year", chanting the military section and the Palestinian national anthem, ending the ceremony by the military authorization and withdrawal.
Finally, the Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees gave the certificates to the graduated students besides honoring the Prime Minister of Palestine with an appreciation shield by Al-Istiqlal University.
It is noteworthy to mention that the number of the graduating students in the academic year 2018/2019 is (337), consisted of (225) from the bachelor's program and (112) from the intermediate diploma for security studies”, divided into the following disciplines: Psychology (53), English and Hebrew Languages (16), Security Sciences / Bachelor (53), Criminology and Law (25), Police and Law Sciences (31), Public Administration and Military Sciences (33), Management Information Systems (14), Security Science / Diploma Intermediate (34), Military Science / Diploma Intermediate (31), military sports training / Diploma Intermediate (47), and the number of outstanding military students in the two graduates' divisions reached (11) consisted of (7) from the bachelor program students and (4) from the intermediate diploma students, and the academic outstanding graduates reached (10) consisted of (7) from the bachelor program students and (3) from intermediate diploma students.
