Al-Istiqlal University discusses cooperation with a Russian Academic Delegation


Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osbaa, the President of Al-Istiqlal University, received a Russian Academic Delegation, included Ms. Titiana Sergevana, the Director of the Institute of Humanities and News, Mr. Lonyov Ghena Dafna, the Head of the Department of Journalism and Literature, Ms. Alec Mira Vanvash, a member of the Russian Writers' Union, and Mr. Ruslan Prokhov, from the Russian Cooperation Agency, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hamdan Taha, his deputy for Academic Affairs, the Deans of Colleges, Dr. Salwa Ramadan, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Hani Oweidat, the Dean of Admission and Registration, Dr. Maamon Al-Helou, the Assistant President for Planning, Development and Quality, and Dr. Khaled Al-Daher, the Assistant Academic Deputy, in the campus of the University, on Wednesday 30th of October 2019 .

Prof. Dr. Abu Osbaa welcomed the Russian Academic Delegation, praising the Palestinian-Russian relationship over the years, since the beginning of the twentieth century, and the joint cooperation with the Russian side, which helped in the development of language, tourism and archeology in Palestine, wishing more effective cooperation in future, and to maintain the common cultural partnerships.

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Taha mentioned the friendship relations between the Russian Federation and Palestine, which goes back a long time, indicating the importance of the cooperation with the Russian side and getting benefit from the experience of the great Russian people, pointing out the Russian Museum in the city of Jericho, which is located close to Al-Istiqlal University and the Institute of Archeology, Providing an introductory briefing about the University and its education system.

Moreover, the Russian Delegation expressed its admiration for Al-Istiqlal University and the Russian Center at the University, mentioning that this second visit came within the framework of discussing ways of cooperation and getting acquainted with the activities of the Russian Center at the University by helping to raise the level of Russian language teachers, noting that Al-Istiqlal University had the third place in the competition of the Russian language.

During the meeting, an introductory film about the University was presented, giving the delegation members symbolic gifts that express the Palestinian long history on this land, wishing more partnership in the field of exchanging expertise and students with the Russian Authorities.

It is noteworthy to mention that Al-Istiqlal University is always open to initiatives and joint cultural and academic cooperation with other countries, to enhance and develop the capabilities of students and to strengthen Palestinian external relations.
