Al-Istiqlal University receives a Dutch delegation from the Dutch Defense Academy

Al-Istiqlal University received the Dutch delegation from the Dutch Defense Academy (NLDA), accompanied by the Dutch Defense Attaché, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hamdan Taha, the Academic Deputy of Al-Istiqlal University, and Maj. Gen. Mohammed Haroon, the Supervisor of the Leadership Training Program with the British Support Team, at the Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan Theater, on Tuesday 19th of November 2019.

Prof. Dr. Taha welcomed the Dutch delegation, mentioning in his speech the Dutch-Palestinian relations for 1700 years, where Dutch silver coins were found in the Qabatiya area, in the northern West Bank, adding that these coins were existed as a result of trade between the Palestinians and the Dutch, stressing the existence of the commercial and cultural relationship between the two countries.

Furthermore, Maj. Gen. Haroon wished more progress and success for the teams, pointing out that there will be more cooperation between the University and the Dutch Defense Academy by an agreement will be signed to strengthen joint partnership, with offering scholarships in the security and military fields, as well as exchanging expertise in both fields.

Finally, the purpose of this visit is to introduce Dutch students to the students of the Palestinian students for exchanging experiences and knowledge. The team consists of three teachers for security and international studies, an English teacher, a history teacher, and 22 students, where the discussion points will include the daily life both sides, besides the differences between them with making comparison and utilization.
