Al-Istiqlal University hosts Dr. Saeb Erekat in a cultural seminar

The Center for Community Service and Continuing Education at Al-Istiqlal University, in cooperation with the Office of the Ministry of Culture in Jericho, held a cultural seminar for Dr. Saeb Erekat, the Secretary of the Executive Committee, in the presence of Dr. Hazar Al-Kiswani, the Director of the Community Service Center, Dr. Khaled Daher, the Assistant of the Academic Deputy, and Dr. Mayson Salameh, the Director of the Ministry of Culture office in Jericho, inside the campus, on Sunday 24th of November 2019.

Dr. Erekat talked about the Palestinian Leader Dr. Heidar Abd Al-Shafi, the stages of his scientific life, and his national positions, which made him not ignore or leave his homeland “Palestine” and its cause, despite the opportunities that were available to him. Also, he said that Dr. Abd El-Shafi represents the Palestinian man who was created to regain his homeland, where Dr. Abd Al-Shafi headed the Palestinian Legislative Council and was the founder of the Red Crescent Society.

Furthermore, he pointed out to the importance of the Palestinian national unity and the seriousness of the multiplicity of powers, and that the PLO is the one that brings us together despite the different factions, saying: "Fatah was established as a collective for all the Palestinians”, answering the students' questions and queries.

Moreover, Dr. Erekat thanked HE Maj. Gen. Dr. Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University, its Presidency and all the Academic and Military cadres, saying: "Al-Istiqlal University is a great edifice," noting the importance of the security sector in building our homeland, besides putting the right person in the right place, stressing that the students have to focus on their specializations because building the future of our homeland is their responsibility.

For her part, Dr. Salameh thanked HE Maj. Gen. Dr. Tawfiq Al-Tirawi and the University, saying: "Al-Istiqlal University is a great cultural supporter for the local community, in addition to providing all facilities, whether academic facilities or expertise to promote the various activities in Palestine.”
