Al-Istiqlal students participate in the "Undersea Moon Race" Marathon

Al-Istiqlal University students participated in the “Undersea Moon Race” Marathon, which was organized by the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, where this race was launched in its second edition in conjunction with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, in Jericho City, on Friday morning 29th of November 2019.

For her part, Ms. Atidal Abd Ghani, the General Director of the Palestine International Marathon, thanked all the partners, volunteers and racing crew who contributed to the success of the event, saying "Jericho city has been chosen for this race because it is the gateway of Palestine to the world, and the choice of the date of the event came in conjunction with the revival of activities of solidarity with the Palestinian people around the world, and a message" that the Palestinians are a people who love life.”

Furthermore, the student Muhammad Hikmat Kharoub won the second place in the 21 km race, and student Jaafar Sharqawi won the fifth place, while student Hamad Abu Al Hajj won sixth place in the same race.

Moreover, the number of participants was approximately 3000 runners from all governorates of Palestine, in addition to two foreign runners in solidarity, as the number of participants from the University students was approximately 25 students, and 80 students volunteered in the implementation process to distribute water and dates to the runners.

It is noteworthy to mention that the Deanship of Student Affairs at Al-Istiqlal University is interested to participate in the various activities and events, to develop the students' skills and reach high positions in the different fields, and to promote the partnerships with the Palestinian Local Organizations.
