Al-Istiqlal University hosts the "GIS" course in cooperation with the Directorate of Education

Prof. Dr. Hamdan Taha, the Deputy for Academic Affairs of Al-Istiqlal University, in partnership with the Directorate of Education, opened a course in the field of Geographic Information Systems "GIS", which was organized by Al-Istiqlal Center for Maps and Topographic Studies, in the presence of Dr. Azmi Balawna, the Director of Education in Jericho Governorate and the deans of colleges, inside the campus, on Sunday 29th of December 2019.

Prof. Dr. Taha welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance of these courses in developing the teachers of Geography in the different schools of Jericho Governorate, to raise the level of the educational process, and promote the use of the new techniques in the research operations, thanking the Directorate of Education for its keenness to develop the educational methods in schools, hoping that this course will be a key for more community development courses.

Furthermore, Dr. Balawna praised the cadre work of Al-Istiqlal University, wishing them success and more partnerships with the Directorate of Education, thanking Al-Istiqlal University for receiving (15) Geography teachers. Also, he appreciated Dr. Raed Al-Halabi for providing the lectures to the students of the Intermediate College for Security Studies at Al-Istiqlal University, indicating the importance of developing this specialization and the students, especially the high school students, because it has become a basic requirement in the new Palestinian curriculum.

For his part, Dr. Raed Al-Halabi said that this course promotes the concepts of partnership and cooperation, indicating the aspects that the course deals with, the basis of geographic information systems science, and analysis techniques, explaining the importance of keeping pace with any development in the world.

It is noteworthy to mention that Al-Istiqlal University always strives for partnership and cooperation with the various institutions and sectors to develop the various categories and sectors of society.
