Al-Istiqlal University signs an Agreement of Teaching Chinese Language

Al-Istiqlal University, in partnership with the Confucius Institute at Al-Quds University (Abu Dis), the Military Training Authority for Security Forces, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed a cooperation agreement to teach the Chinese language, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hamdan Taha, the Deputy for Academic Affairs at Al-Istiqlal University, Dr. Rajaa Sweidan, the Deputy for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the University, Maj. Gen. Yousef Al-Helo, the Chairman of the Palestinian Military Training Authority, Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek, the  President of Al-Quds University (Abu Dis), and Ms. Rola Muhesin, the Director of the Diplomatic Training Program (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), inside the campus of Al-Quds University (Abu Dis), on Tuesday 21th of January 2020.

Prof. Dr. Hamdan delivered the greetings of HE Maj. Gen. Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University, and its president Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu-Osba, pointing out the importance of integration in the scientific system, strengthening the relationship with the Republic of China, and building bridges of relations between the two peoples in the various fields, stressing the readiness of Al-Istiqlal University to work for the development of society and promoting linkages with the different peoples who support the Palestinian rights, thanking the President of Al-Quds University (Abu Dis) for the reception.

For his part, Prof Dr.  Abu Kishek welcomed the attendees, extending his greetings to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University, and the President of the University, congratulating Al-Istiqlal University on the achievements, pointing out the importance of cooperation between the different educational institutions to develop the general educational process, praising the Republic of China and its support to the Palestinian people, stressing the need to build relationships with China and find ways to network the peoples with each other for exchanging the experiences in the academic, military and cultural fields, mentioning the necessity of building a new generation to interact with each other’s and the language will be the first step.

Furthermore, Maj. Gen. Al-Helo talked about the Authority, its activities and its partnerships with the different institutions, especially the distinguished relationship with Al-Istiqlal University, referring to the Institute of Languages at the Authority and the offering of the Master's scholarships, praising the historical relationship with China which provides many study seats for the Palestinians in its educational institutions, mentioning the cooperation with Al-Quds University staff through issuing the military magazine that includes many researches aim to develop and build the skills of the Palestinian officers. Also, he appreciated the distinguished relationship with the Al-Istiqlal University by providing its students with the military foundation training course and other training courses to develop the Palestinian Security Institution and meets its needs, stressing the importance of strategic planning and the protection of Palestinian cultural heritage.

Moreover, Ms. Muhesin stressed the importance of strengthening the social and diplomatic relations with the Republic of China and its people, noting the historical and the future dimensions with the Chinese people, and the need to rebuild relations with the international communities to support the Palestinian national liberation project.

It is noteworthy to mention that Al-Istiqlal University always seeks to discuss cooperation on an international level, to raise the knowledge and skills of its academic and military cadres and students, in addition to this agreement which comes in the context of strengthening the role of the Confucius Institute, which was recently and officially approved at Al-Quds University.
