Al-Istiqlal University signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in the presence of HE Maj. Gen. Dr. Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University, Ms. Rola Ma’aya, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osba, the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hamdan Taha, the Deputy for Academic Affairs, and the Deans of colleges, inside the University campus, on Wednesday 12th of February 2020.

Maj. Gen. Dr. Al-Tirawi welcomed the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and the delegation accompanied her, noting that the establishment of the University was a challenge to the Israeli occupation, providing an overview of the University’s plans, stressing the importance of the Palestinian national heritage, history and the project of tourist panorama, which will preserve the history of Palestine by the specialists, mentioning the readiness of Al-Istiqlal University to meet and support the needs of the Ministry to serve the country.

For her part, Ms. Ma’aya expressed her gratitude for visiting Al-Istiqlal University, praising its system and the efforts of the Administrative, Academic and Military cadres, explaining that the mission of the Palestinian people is to preserve the Palestinian history, heritage and cultural identity, mentioning that the partnership with the Universities is very important for the future of the country.

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Abu Osba pointed out a new program that will serve the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, stressing the importance of cooperation with the Ministry to graduate qualified cadres able to serve the country and preserve the history and civilization, mentioning that the tourism dimension has a major impact in raising the level of the national economy.

Moreover, Prof. Dr. Taha said that the memorandum of understanding was reached to develop, promote and qualify the human resources in the field of tourism and antiquities, besides raising the cultural level and awareness in protecting the Palestinian tourism facilities and heritage at the national level.

During the meeting, a short introductory film was presented about the University, after which the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and the delegation accompanied her were taken to an introductory tour to see the development of the infrastructure inside the University which plays an important role in supporting the educational and military process for the benefit of the students.
