HE Maj. Gen. Dr. Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University and the member of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement, held an emergency meeting to discuss the quarantine station for the people who are coming back from China, in the presence of Mr. Jihad Abu- Al Asal, the Governor of Jericho and Al Aghwar, Dr. Arb Anani, Director of the Jericho Health Directorate, Dr. Naser Anani, the Director of Jericho Hospital, and the Emergency Staff of Al-Istiqlal University, on Friday 21th of February 2020.
Maj. Gen. Al-Tirawi announced that the people who are coming back from China will be hosted for 14 days inside building of the Academy of the Fatah Intellectual Movement, which is outside the campus of Al-Istiqlal University, where it was equipped to accommodate (300) people, explaining that the building is away from the University and the residential compounds enough long-distance and surrounded by a protective wall.
Furthermore, a specialized medical teams of doctors and nurses will be provided to the building in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Health to supervise and follow all medical procedures within two weeks, which is the period required to ensure the patient's safety, besides the security procedures which will be provided in cooperation with Palestinian Security Institution, to protect the quarantine area and the places around it, and that’s will be in cooperation with the Governor of Jericho and the Fatah Movement Committee in Jericho and Al Aghwar Governorate.
Moreover, he said that Al-Istiqlal University will provide all the needs, due to the lack of the necessary capabilities inside Jericho Hospital, which is the only hospital in the governorate, where all the logistical needs will be secured at the highest level of (food, drink, hygiene, personal services, and the provision of the Internet service and others) to guarantee the highest level of comfort for our people during the period of accommodation, mentioning to the Palestinians that the treatment and the service will be with full responsibility, caution and attention, out of concern for the security of the homeland and the citizen, noting that the current situation is considered as a national security issue.
For his part, Mr. Abu Al- Asal praised the efforts of Maj. Gen. Dr. Al-Tirawi of preserving safety and security Palestinian society, stressing that this situation requires real cooperation and solidarity of all, to ensure the highest level of safety for the people in our holy land.
In conjunction, Dr. Anani explained to the attendees about the process of dealing with the cases in the quarantine area, in addition to making the necessary analysis that will determine the nature of each case to avoid the spread of the epidemic.
It is noteworthy to mention that HE Maj. Gen. Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, on the behalf of the University, seeks to provide a healthy environment for the people who are coming from China to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus among the people, and these practical steps comes within the framework of the national and social responsibility of Al-Istiqlal University toward our homeland.
