Project Title: Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Palestinian HEIs: An e-Learning Initiative that Bridges Educational and Socio-Political Gaps “TEFL-ePAL”. (2018-2022)

TEFL-ePAL is a three-year-project. Its management process plan consolidates several activities and rely on multiple resources with the aim to implement initiatives that develop learners’ linguistic capacity, skills, and English language excellence, aiming to bridge the educational and socio-political gaps, enhance modernization, internationalization, sustainable and lifelong learning.
“TEFL-ePal” aims to develop flexible curricula, with face-to-face and online courses to be accessible to all learners, with no restrictions, reaching all learners including those with special needs and conditions, learners at work & women with restrictions. It aims to implement initiatives that develop learners’ linguistic capacity, skills, and English language excellence, enhance modernization, internationalization and lifelong learning without ignoring the culture.
Innovative Character of the Project:
The project aims to bring about major improvements in the design of flexible curricula, innovation in teaching approaches, digital educational resources, infrastructure, teacher development, and professional development, coordination to promote English T/L, increase linguistic capacity, access to knowledge, and develop skills of lifelong learning in HEIs. The project helps to initiate well organized TEFL learning objects which are accessible to all, without border restrictions, as well as TEFL team and language centers to enhance ICT integration, blended learning & research studies.

As a partner in TEFL project, Al-Istiqlal University contributed in this meeting at two trends; the dissemination trend where the press team covered the event by photograph, interviews and reports. The second trend was the participation of the academic team in this meeting which came after the observation visits to the UK and Germany during the preparation phase. Dr. Nawal Al-Sheikh, Dr. Husam Qadoumi, Dr. Khaled Masood and Mohammad Abu Obeid represented Al-Istiqlal University in this meeting.

Closing Event and Conference (April 2022)
The closing event of the project will take place in Ramallah/ Palestine. The event serves several purposes: Firstly, reflection and feedback on the project will be presented and shared by all partners based on their experience. Secondly, the results and outcomes of the project will be disseminated and presented during the event to the stakeholders in the region.
