A delegation from Al-Istiqlal University, headed by Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osba, the President of the University, visited the Grandparents' House in Jericho, and its director Mr. Hamdi Halabiya, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Sobou, the deputy for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Halasa, the dean of the Scientific Centers, and Dr. Mohammed Abddo, the director of the Community Service Center.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Abu Osba expressed his happiness to be among the members of the house and all its cadres, stressing the need to shed light on the needs of the elderly, through the various partnerships with the local community institutions to provide a good environment that guarantees them health and psychological care.
Furthermore, Mr. Halabiya welcomed the guest delegation, praising the efforts and the support of Al-Istiqlal University, especially the inauguration of the Martyr Saeb Erikat Library inside the house and providing it with distinguished books.
Also, he gave a brief overview of the Institution’s work and the nature of the services it provides, as it is the only governmental center affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development, and its keenness to receive the elderly from various Palestinian governorates and provide their requirements
It is noteworthy to mention that this event was implemented by the second-year bachelor students and several military officers, besides Al-Istiqlal Musical Band, and they provided the members of the house with gifts, health tools, and equipment for the people of disability.
