The students of firefighting and rescue techniques of Al-Istiqlal University attended a training maneuver organized by the Palestinian Civil Defense/ Jericho, in conjunction with the International Day of Disaster Reduction, in the presence of Col. Nabil Al-Karmi, from the Civil Defense, Maj Gen. Jihad Abu-Al Asal, the Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Capt. Ahmed Kharaz, the Head of the Military Sciences Department, and many representatives of the Palestinian Security Services and governmental institutions.

The event was held with the participation of the police, the national security forces, the military medical services, and the Palestinian Red Crescent, at the Palestine palm factory which is located in Jericho.

Furthermore, the training simulates the outbreak of a fire inside a factory in which more than 200 people work, so the safety crews of the factory and the competent authorities carry out the evacuation of the employees and a nearby school, then extinguish the fire and deal with the injuries. Also, they implemented field training in dealing with a traffic accident and a vehicle fire, taking into account the appropriate preventive measures and the nature of the accident.

It is noteworthy to mention that Al-Istiqlal University, under the directives of the Chairman of its Board of Trustees, is keen to advance the level of its students and improve their academic and military performance, by providing them with the cognitive and practical skills that qualify them to join the Palestinian Security Establishment after graduation.
