HE Maj. Gen. Al-Tirawi receives an Italian delegation headed by Lieutenant-Colonel Nintshoni

HE Maj. Gen. Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University, and Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osba, the President of the University, received an Italian delegation headed by Lieutenant-Colonel Stefano Nintshoni.

The meeting included Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Sobou, the deputy for Academic Affairs of Al-Istiqlal University, Brig. Gen. Salman Tayseer Abdullah, the deputy for Military Affairs, Dr. Rajaa Sweidan, the deputy for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Col. Marko Di-Stefano, the Head of the Italian Training Mission in Palestine,  Dr. Abdl-Elatif Ouda, the Assistant to the President for Planning, Development and Quality, Dr. Ghassan Omar, the Director of the Center, and the deans of the various colleges.

Maj. Gen. Al-Tirawi welcomed the delegation and stressed the depth of the historical relationship that unites the two countries, referring to the importance of exchanging expertise, and consolidating the values of discipline and commitment among students while taking deterrent decisions against violators, to qualify officers for leading the Palestinian Security Establishment, and to create an officer personality based on scientific and cognitive foundations.

Furthermore, he talked about the development of the Al-Istiqlal University, and one of its most prominent features is the expansion of its area from 7,000 acres to 400,000 acres, despite the short time of its inception, in addition to considering the environmental aspect and the availability of green areas.

Moreover, Prof. Dr. Abu Osba expressed his happiness at hosting the guests of the "Northern Mediterranean" inside the campus of Al-Istiqlal University, pointing out the need to strengthen the relationship between the two sides, and the positive results at the academic and military levels.

For his part, Col. Di-Stefano praised the warm reception, the efforts of the University staff, and its relentless endeavors to have more achievements and prosperity. Also, he said that they are looking forward to joint work, especially in the military side, through exchanging expertise in the field of police sciences that pertain to the nature of the Italian team’s work in Palestine, to provide the University’s trainers with intensive courses in this regard.

And, Dr. Al-Sobou gave a summary of the University’s majors (diploma and bachelor’s), and the graduate programs it has developed, to keep pace with the requirements of the labor market in several fields, including security, law, psychology, management, and arts, to graduate cadres with advanced qualitative research qualifications.

In context, Brig. Gen. Abdullah expressed his pride in this initiative by the Italian friends, and his willingness to harness all possibilities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the military cadre, and graduate skilled trainers at all levels.

In conclusion, the Public Relations Department presented a short film about the life of Al-Istiqlal students inside the campus of the University, besides taking the delegation on an introductory tour of the University's facilities and faculties.
