Maj. Gen. Al-Tirawi receives the Egyptian ambassador to Palestine

Maj. Gen. Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osba, the President of Al-Istiqlal University, received Mr. Tareq Al-Tayel, the Egyptian Ambassador to Palestine, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Sobou, the deputy for Academic Affairs, Brig. Gen. Salman Abdallah, the deputy for Military Affairs, and Dr. Abdul Latif Abu Odeh, the assistant president for planning, development, and quality.

Maj. Gen. Al-Tirawi welcomed the guest, stressing the depth of the historical relationship between Palestine and the Arab Republic of Egypt, and its supportive stances for the struggle of our Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Furthermore, he reviewed an introductory overview of the University, and the qualitative leap that it witnessed despite its recent inception, whether in terms of space or infrastructure, as well as at the level of its components of cadres and facilities, aimed at preparing students for the transition from civilian to military life completely and arming them with knowledge, discipline, and commitment, besides allowing them to participate in Arab and international sports, scientific and training forums, and to develop their own and leadership capabilities.

For his part, the Ambassador expressed his happiness with his first visit to the University campus, the good reception and hosting, and its efforts to serve the Palestinian security establishment, referring to the Egyptian endeavors to enhance prospects for cooperation with Palestine in many fields.

Moreover, Prof. Dr. Abu-Osba spoke about the University’s specializations in the diploma and bachelor’s programs, keeping pace with modern scientific trends, meeting the needs of the security system and the labor market, in addition to several projects under implementation and preparation such as the forensic laboratory and the Olympic swimming pool, as well as it’s future and development visions to maintain the institution’s sustainability and continuity.

Also, Prof. Dr. Al-Sobou refers to the University’s mission and goals in graduating qualified officers with skills and a physical body by focusing on the military, academic, and specialized dimensions, and implementing the necessary theoretical and practical courses to improve the students’ level and improve general performance.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Abdallah talked about the police-military security aspect and the stages of student admission which are based on certain criteria, and under the supervision of specialized committees, starting with medical examinations and conducting interviews, passing through the foundation course, and reaching the official enrollment in the ranks of its students, with its keenness on the complementarity of the relationship with the Palestinian security services and its intensive practical exercises in preparation for joining its convoys.

In conclusion, the Public relations and Media Department presented a short film dealing with the nature of academic life at Al-Istiqlal University, and the ambassador was accompanied on a field tour inside the University's buildings and facilities.
