The Community Services Center organizes an awareness day for the women in Al-Auja

On the occasion of Pink October, the Center for Community Service and Continuing Education at Al-Istiqlal University organized an educational day at the Women’s Center in Al-Auja on “Women’s Mental Health, Breast Cancer Prevention and Early Detection”, in cooperation with the Jericho Health Directorate.

Ms. Lubna Masaeed, the Director of the Center, welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance of these unique initiatives, which are conducted by Al-Istiqlal University, in spreading medical, cultural, and knowledge awareness of the various aspects of life.

Furthermore, Ms. Aneesa Bahlol, from the community services at Al-Istiqlal University, gave a brief overview of the nature of the center’s work, and its national and humanitarian vision to serve the different social categories, through the implementation of guidance and counseling activities on the one hand, and recreational and educational activities on the other hand, in partnership with civil and official institutions.

For her part, Ms. Maryam Farah presented a lecture on women’s mental health in terms of the pressures they are exposed to, its causes and factors, and the methods of release, to maintain the balance of life, besides conducting supporting sessions by drawing and painting.

In the end, Ms. Rania Ghrouf, the Head of the Health Education Department in Jericho District, stressed the necessity of conducting periodic examinations for early detection of breast cancer, its symptoms and stages, the preparation mechanisms for mammograms, and the ways to prevent it, in light of the steady increase in its numbers recently, which is a dangerous indicator.
