The Center for Community Service and Continuing Education at Al-Istiqlal University organized an educational event on "Children's Rights", in cooperation with the Legal Clinic Department, at the Child Center of Jericho Municipality.

Dr. Osama Darag, a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, talked about the rights of the child in a simple-entertaining way, and their basic needs in the fields of health, education, protection, freedom of expression, material security, and moral support through providing care, shelter, and the appropriate living conditions, amid a positive interaction by the participants.

For her part, Ms. Mai Hellal, the Director of the Center, praised this distinctive initiative from Al-Istiqlal University, and its role in shedding light on the children’s category, besides promoting their cultural and national awareness in a manner commensurate with their mental abilities.

Furthermore, Ms. Maiam Farah, from the Community Service Department, gave a brief overview of the nature of the center's work and its periodic activities within the Jericho and Jordan Valley community, pointing out the need to introduce children's rights and duties, to ensure a decent life for them, and to enhance the different ways of expressing themselves and the reality around them.

The event included evaluating the desired benefit through drawings, writing, and playing. Also, they conducted a cultural competition and encouraged them to learn and know the geography and history of Palestine, besides distributing presents to the winners.
