Al-Istiqlal University hosts a training course on "Women's Agenda, Security and Peace"

Al-Istiqlal University hosted a training course on "Women's Agenda, Security and Peace", which was presented by Ms. Mona Namoura and Ms. Rima Nazzal from the General Union of Palestinian Women, in the presence of Dr. Ghassan Omar, the Director of the Training and Development Institute, and Dr. Khaled Abu Daher, the Assistant of the Academic Deputy.

Ms. Namoura expressed her happiness at the meeting, which intersects with the University's vision and its security outputs. The meeting discussed individual security in many areas such as food, economy, and politics, by explaining the project "Women Mediators of Peace and Security in Palestine in accordance with Security Council Resolution 1325".

Also, she gave a brief overview of the union, and described it as the feminist framework for all the factions affiliated with the Palestine Liberation Organization, its establishment in 1975 in Jerusalem to form an umbrella in support of women’s rights, and its struggle stations at the national and diaspora levels, in addition to strengthening the feminist scene in many of European countries, besides the aspirations to open a branch in Germany.

For her part, Ms. Nazzal delivered the greetings of Ms. Intisar Al Wazir, the President of the General Union, referring to the resolutions issued by the Security Council and its binding status on all member states, led by the "1325", which has passed for nearly 22 years, to emphasize the full, meaningful and equal participation of women in Peace and political solutions process to reach sustainable development, based on the targeting of women in areas of armed conflict for religious and ethnic reasons, and the abuse of their status and societal value in the nineties of the twentieth century.

It is noteworthy to mention that this meeting comes within the framework of the agreement signed between the federation and the South-South International Cooperation (CISS), and the course will last for 6 consecutive days, starting with face-to-face meetings, besides the virtual dialogue sessions, and concluding with practical application and simulation.
