Al-Istiqlal University, represented by Prof. Dr. Nour Al-Din Abu Al-Rob, the president of the University, participated in the annual conference of the Union of Mediterranean Universities "UNIMED", which is hosted by the University of Granada, Spain, from 15-16 March.
The event comes within the framework of deepening the University’s external relations with the various educational institutions and organizations, which would provide opportunities for scientific and cultural cooperation, exchange of expertise, knowledge, and pioneering experiences in all international forums, besides enhancing the research and technological aspects to keeps pace with the needs of the field.
Also, the members of the conference discussed the issues of common scientific interest, and the challenges at all levels, and decide their policies by setting annual action plans with developmental directions.
It is noteworthy to mention that the federation was established in October 1991, and includes universities from twenty-three countries bordering the Mediterranean basin. And, the federation aims to maintain the channels of communication between the universities and create specific projects and programs that contribute to advancing the development wheel and the higher education sector.
